Improved Site Search

Search on the Wayland Chiles website has always been a little weak sauce. As a fan of chiles, weak sauce is not cool. Last night I completed the process of improving the search feature.

One improvements is returning results even when the word is misspelled. For example one of my favorite chiles from Japan is the Shishito. The most popular misspelling I have seen is Shoshito. The search now will return relevant results for all but the most creative misspellings.

One very confusing thing about chiles is that they might have several different names. For example a Poblano is a mild fresh chile but as soon as you dry the pod it becomes an Ancho. The same is true for a Chilaca pepper, when dried it is called a Pasilla chile. Even more to my point how do you spell chile? Chili, chilie, chile or pepper? To make it easier to find what you are looking for I am working on a really good list of synonyms so when you search Pasilla seeds you will also be shown Chilaca seeds.

I would love to hear from you about what you think of the new search feature. Of course if you have suggestions for improvements or know of chile synonyms please let me know.
